My guess is that all their inventory items will be automatically transferred to you. You could always just quicksave and kick someone out of your party and see what happens. That said, this will only be a thing during the first Act since starting from Act 2 you will be locked into the party composition you chose at the end of Act 1. I am actually not sure how party swapping goes, since I always stick with the ones I recruit in the beginning. A mixed party on the other hand is ready for everything, but requires a more tactical approach.
